I read an article today that talked about shadow figures, and that how most of the encounters with these entities prove to be absolutely frightening to the observer. However, it went on to say that some experiences with shadow people, like the one I had, are seemingly harmless, and often quite interesting.
In 2010 I was part of a paranormal investigation at a private residence here in Norman, Oklahoma where I live. I was sitting in the living room facing towards the kitchen area. Two other individuals were sitting in chairs directly across from me. We were conducting an EVP session, when I saw a figure-like shadow appear and move across the kitchen wall. Instantly I knew what this was, a shadow person, the movement had been fluid, and purposeful, and there was no other source anywhere in the house that could have produced such a shadow.
I mentioned as calmly as I could to my to fellow investigators that I had seen a shadow move across the wall. All three of us were sitting perfectly still, and that’s when I saw the shadow move again, this time it moved along the wall leading up the stairs to the second floor, and stopped in a dark corner of the foyer.
I was pretty excited at this point, but again, as calmly as possible, I explained what I had seen to the other two investigators who were there with me. They both slowly turned to face the point at the top of the stairs where I had indicated.
We waited for about two minutes in total silence just watching the corner. Since the main goal was to communicate, I spoke up, and called the shadow figure out.
“I just saw you move in the kitchen, and I saw you go up to the top of the stairs, we just want to talk to you, we mean you no harm.”
Nothing happened, so I decided I would try to order this entity to speak with us. There are those in the paranormal community who don’t agree with this method of provoking. I believe there are limits to how far you should push it, but I also hold that there is no harm in being a little stern in an attempt to get some kind of response.
“I know you are at the top of the stairs, I can see you, we have made all this effort for you, now I demand that you come down here and communicate with us. Do it now!”
We waited again for something to happen, but nothing ever did. We saw no more of the shadow figure, nor was there any other activity after that. But, we didn’t come up empty-handed, the next day when I was going over the audio, I found a response to my demand.
On the audio, right after I demanded that it come down and communicate, there was a very clear, disembodied voice that came through on the recorder and it simply said, ”No!”
So it appears that some shadow people don’t want anything to do with the physical realm, or anyone residing in it. Now, I admit, had I woken up and found a shadow figure hovering over my bed, as some people have, I would have probably reacted differently. Plenty of shadow people sightings are reported from around the world every year, so what are they? Why are they always around?
