I wanted to take a moment to remember Mr. Maurice Sendak, author of many books for children, and of course, my favorite, Where the Wild Things Are.
The man created some of the most recognized monsters in history, and thrilled children and adults the world over. It is a sad day.
One might think that my love for fangs and fur-covered beasts sprouted from B-rated creature flicks, and they’d be mostly right. But long before all that, Maurice Sendak showed me the way.
In fact, in my very closet and at this very moment, there hangs a Where the Wild Things Are t-shirt.
In the passing of Maurice Sendak, the literary community, as well as the entire world, has suffered a monster loss.
Rest in peace, sir.
